1. What is a pole building?

Post Frame construction is one of the oldest and still a commonly used construction method. Mostly because pole buildings are very cost effective & conctruction time is reduced considerably when compared to alternative types of construction. Post frame construction doesn't usually start with a poured foundation like more conventional sturctures. Instead of using traditional verticle stud framing resting on top of a poured foundation, we use large pressure treated posts set on piers in the ground, which can span a much larger distance (typically 8-10' on center). This strong method of construction allows truss spans of 80' or greater, which is not typical & sometimes not possible using conventional framing methods. To sum it up, post frame construction basically uses larger framing members to span a greater distance, which cuts down on contruction time & material cost.
